Aden began as a long awaited, but necessary outlet for me to express myself creatively. I am a self-taught jewellery designer and part-time digital media student at Orita Sinclair International.

After a few months of digital media training I felt the need to convey my emotions through something more tactile. Something that could be passed on*, felt*, instead of merely displayed.

I generally veer towards intricate as well as masculine aesthethics and have an eye for detail. I have always loved fairy tales, mythical creatures, art nouveau, old illustrations and all things victorian, oriental and organic and I believe these qualities reflect in my designs.

Romanticism is generally characterizedby a highly imaginative and subjective approach, with emotional intensity, and a dream-like or visionary quality. German writer E.T.A. Hoffmann once declared "infinite longing" to be the essence of Romanticism.

My jewellery collection celebrates the spirit and ideals of

 

 

 

 

I place emphasis on the sublime as opposed to the conventionally beautiful.

My collection represents the space between two worlds.

Past against present. Culture against culture. Male against female. Soft against hard. Texture against texture.

It is a physical representation of the space that divides us and links us. The contrast and tension that the materials create and the interesting compostions that emerge as a result of that juxtaposition.

Every item in my collection is uniquely made and mostly one offs. No two pieces are identical.
